Blockchain technology has the potential to transform payments and other types of traditional financial services. The industry is making the case that it could bolster financial access and inclusion, but how would that come to pass and what do policymakers think?

Questions to be addressed include:

  • What are the most promising use cases for blockchain technology and where is that adoption taking place?
  • What evidence is there that crypto products are helping with financial inclusion and addressing needs of the unbanked?
  • How is the digital asset industry working to ensure its products are secure and compliant with financial regulations?
  • What are the biggest concerns among policymakers and how are digital asset firms trying to address them?
  • What’s at stake for the digital asset industry in the wave of elections happening around the world in 2024?
  • How can crypto firms address growing concerns about money laundering and fraud?

This roundtable will be conducted according to the Chatham House rule. The conversation will be led by Zach Warmbrodt, financial services editor at POLITICO.

Speakers confirmed:

  • Dante A. Disparte, chief strategy officer and head of global policy, Circle
  • Richard Nash, vice president and head of global government relations, PayPal
  • Saurabh Tripathi, managing director and senior partner, and global leader of the BCG financial institutions practice, Boston Consulting Group
  • Candace Kelly, chief legal officer, Stellar
